How are players divided during camp?
The first camp session includes an evaluation. Players are divided by age and then by skill. Our goal is to have players on the court where they can learn best and improve the most.
Can I move to a different group?
We will try to evaluate as best we can, but we also want you to have a positive experience. If you are unhappy, please talk to the staff during camp time.
Can I stay with my friend in the same group?
If there is someone that you want to be with during the whole week of camp, please go together when we first break up. After the initial evaluation, you may or may not be asked to move courts, based on our numbers, teaching styles and the abilities of the players on each court. If it is more important to be together, the campers should talk with the staff during camp time when changes can be made.
Can I pre-register and set up a "user account" in the on-line system prior to Feb 4th?
If you have an account from a prior year registration, you can log in and update information at any time using your email and password. First time campers will need to set up the account during the registration process on or after February 4th. The account set-up is really only one extra step. All returning and new campers will be able to register for camp at the same time on Feb 4th. There have been new system updates and we have been assured that the registration process will be much smoother this year.
My daughter isgoing in to 9th grade. Which camp session should she come to?
We have chosen to include 9th graders in both camp sessions mainly because they are the largest number of campers to attend each year. We are asking you to pick only one of the camp sessions. We anticipate that there will be approximately 75 9th graders at each session, which translates to about 5 courts. This means they most likely will be all together and we anticipate that the skill level will be similar based on playing experience. Both weeks will have the same staff and curriculum.
Are there dorms available for camp?
We only provide dorms and meals for teams that come together to our TEAM camp session. We do not provide housing for individuals that come to our day camps. There are several nearby Seattle hotels. The Silver Cloud University Inn is just a few blocks north of the Arena and if you call 800-205-6940 please ask for the "UW volleyball camp rate".
Where do I park? Should I buy a parking permit?
Volleyball Campers may park in E-1 (north of the Arena) OR in the lot adjacent to Husky Stadium.
On campus parking restrictions are in effect Monday 6am- Saturday at noon.
Parking is free on campus beginning Saturday at noon through Monday at 6am.
Please follow all posted signs or stop by an attended gate for more information or to obtain a permit.
As in 2006, the parking department will again issue"drop-off" permits which allowed you to park for 45 minutes around the beginning and end of each camp session. These permits are available to be printed from the UW Parking Services website. This permit will allow you to park and walk your camper in and out each day. If you plan to stay longer and watch, you should but a permit for the longer period of time.
What if I just want to drop my camper off?
Campers can be dropped off at the southwest corner of the Arena.
We will have a UW staff coach stationed there at the beginning (from 8:45-8:55am and 5:15-5:25pm)
and the end of each session (from 4:00-4:15pm and from 8:30-8:45 pm )
Is there supervision before and after camp?
The UW Volleyball DAY Camp Staff will be available beginning at 8:45 am and ending at 4:15pm
The UW Volleyball NIGHT Camp Staff will be available beginning at 5:15 pm and ending at 8:45pm
Is there any volleyball merchandise for sale?
At registration, closing ceremonies, and a variety of times during the week, we will have our "camp store" open to sell t-shirts and sweatshirts in all different styles.
Are there scholarships available? Per NCAA rules we are not able to offer scholarships to any camper who has completed the 8th grade. We have donated several camp tuitions to nearby organizations for auctions. These certificates are redeemable for NIGHT camp tuition for players entering grades 4th-8th. Please contact our office for more information.
Can I bring lunch to a camper?
Campers will have approximately 50 minutes for lunch. The lunch start times will vary during the 4 days of Day Camp, but will begin sometime between 11:20 and 11:45am.
Will there be a trainer at camp?
There will be 2 athletic trainers on the courts and the UW Training room will be available. Trainers will be able to treat injuries and tape if necessary. Campers should provide their own taping supplies.
When is the tuition due?
We have asked for payment in full within 2 weeks of registration. If you need to set up a payment plan, please call our office.
When are the waiver and medical forms due?
We are trying to collect all forms as soon as possible, but all forms are due prior to the start of camp. Players WILL NOT be allowed to participate unless we have a copy of the signed waiver and completed medical form.
